What Your Colleagues Say
"This training was an experience -- for personal growth, skill building, etc. I am so proud to be a part of this type of service and to know such exceptional individuals. I truly admire the trainers for their dedication, caring, support and philosophy of taking practical steps in helping people and making a difference in this world."

"I really appreciate having had this opportunity to meet and work with like-minded people doing the same work this past week. The downside is realizing how isolated it is now going to feel in [my rural town]. However, I will use all of you folks for resources and support. I feel energized and renewed by this training."

"It was helpful to meet other new attorneys that I can relate to. I felt less alone in learning new skills. And seeing others learning similar skills made me feel more confident and competent to go forward!!"

“I enjoyed the style in which the training was done-the group activities, games and skits; interactive. I like that learning here was fun.”

It was a “relaxed atmosphere, safe environment for risk taking; a chance to meet others in public interest.”

I liked “meeting other advocates/attorneys working on common goals; practical skills.”

“A great experience. (It) taught me a lot about myself and the preconceived notions that I have and was unaware of. It also reaffirmed a lot of my skills and passions re(garding) legal aid.”

There were “many things (I liked) -simulations and the accompanying preparation…overall learning environment, the diversity of trainers and participants (geographic).”

"I feel so fortunate to have been able to participate in such a well planned, well presented training. It's a shame that programs spend training dollars on trainings that are presented in a fashion that by the end you are so bored that you forget everything you hear. I also want to thank each and every one of you for your support and encouragement. I can't think of a more wonderful group of role models! Thank you very much for making me feel like a part of your 'family.' This has been one of (if not the) most incredible experiences of my life (other than childbirth!) "

"The College of Advocacy provided me with invaluable training. As a litigation associate in a large corporate firm, I went through the firm’s training program but, because of the size of the cases I was assigned, I had few opportunities to put my training to use. At the College, I was given the tools to effectively represent my pro bono clients and the opportunity to practice my skills in a realistic setting. In addition to the substantive and practical legal training, the College also taught me about the cultural and social issues my clients faced-allowing me to approach their legal problems with greater sensitivity. The training not only helped me better handle my pro bono cases but also positively influenced how I practice law."
